Left in the trash

On Easter Friday Açucena were working in her vegetable garden when she heard a baby crying. She asked her husband if he heard the crying baby. He told her that he thinks it is a neighbors baby crying and they continued working in their garden. Sunday night while in bed she heard a baby crying and her husband said that he thinks it maybe a stray cat. He then also heard the baby cry and then they went into the trash heap close to their house. They could hear a baby cry and called their neighbors to come and help. Eventually they found a hole in the ground, her husband had to clean trash and broken glass from the hole. He found a baby wrapped in a black trash bag. They called the police and took the baby to a local hospital. The babies placenta was  still attached to his body and he was covered in maggots, ants and worms.

After spending two weeks in hospital, baby Ecson came to live with us. We moved a baby bed in to our room and we were parents for a new born baby that was thrown away to die in the trash.
Ecson, the day he came to live with us

We fell in love with him and he brought so much joy into our home. Açucena and her husband decided that Ecson was a gift from God to them and that they wanted to adopt him. They started the adoption process immediately and although we were excited we knew the day Ecson leave was going to be hard for us.

The day Social Welfare and Açuena came to adopt Ecson and take him home were a very hard day for us. Rika went home with them and found the family and community waiting. There were food and champagne. They first prayed together and worship God for this special gift. They ate food together and toasted the arrival of Ecson. This helped Rika so much to see how loved Ecson is and that he is welcomed by the family.

Friday Açucena came to visit us, he looks so good and well cared for. We can see the love in her eyes when she looks at Ecson. Pascal went to sit with Ecson on his bed and it brought me such great joy to see our three boys love Ecson so much.

Jesus have a plan for the live of Ecson, he was thrown away with the trash and Jesus saved him and gave him a loving, caring family. The simplicity of the Gospel lyes within this. Through Jesus by grace we are adopted.

Ecson and Açucena
