Children's Day
June the 1st is the day we celebrate children's day in Mozambique. The children are always very excited, because we prepare a special meal, have cakes, candy and gifts for them. It is a very festive occasion in Mozambique. This year it made me think how important it is to celebrate the life of each child everyday of the year. Every day as I travel the streets and experience the poverty of this nation and to see young children doing the work of adults, I wonder about the rights of these children. Seeing young children going to school at night, because there is not enough schools for them to attend. Spending time with children and realizing that they have no dreams, because of poverty, makes it hard to celebrate the 1st of June. Many live without hope and dreams. I encourage our children to dream and to live their dreams. We want to dream with them and trust with them that Jesus will make all there dreams possible. We want them to know that each one of them have a future and that they are special. They are not abandoned, lost or without parents, but that they are adopted into a family, with Jesus our Father. That they have the right to be a child and and we will celebrate this everyday.
