No matter who you are or where you come from everyone have a deep desire to belong; this is also true of a child that was abandon. And so it was also true with little Luis, even thou he stayed with Pieter and Rika from the age of 2 months, deep inside of him was the desire for more.
Not too long ago Leonor and two ladies went on a journey to look for any family member. And by the grace of God they found grandparents and older siblings.
Luis was super exited when he was told that we are going to visit them. And so the journey started, from taxi, to bus to truck. The smile on the face of that child grew bigger and bigger but the clutching on my hand became stronger and stronger as we arrived at this very primitive living conditions. The excitement was overwhelming there were clapping of hands and dancing and kissing. From all over people came to meet this young man, the lost boy that came home.
In their poverty they prepared a love meal for us, giving their thanks to Pieter and Rika for taking care of Luis and being the parents to him that he never had. Sharing this experience with Luis was something Godly for me, it was a symbol of ultimate love, a love so deep you cannot explain it. (Written by Nicolene Schoeman)
